The 10 Best Veggie Burgers of All Time + Recipes

I grew up eating beef hamburgers, and I’m sure many of you did too. There is no hiding that burgers taste delicious especially when barbecued. But who said that burgers need to be made out of dead cows?!

My family and I eat all the burgers we want now, but they are all veggie burgers. They are just as delicious (tastier, actually) and better for your health. Also, the biggest bonus is that no animals had to die to make it.

In this blog post, I’m going to share with you some of my favorite veggie burger brands, along with some great recipes for how you can make your own veggie burgers.

Before getting into the list I just want to point out one thing – just because something is labeled as a “veggie burger” does not mean that it’s vegan. Many veggie burgers unfortunately contain eggs or even dairy!

No worries though, because of course the brands in this blog post are all 100% vegan.

The Beyond Burger

If you haven’t heard of the Beyond Burger yet, where have you been living?! It’s made by a company called Beyond Meat, and it is by far the most realistic looking and tasting veggie burger out there.

It contains 20 grams of protein in each patty and it’s both soy-free and gluten-free. You can buy these burgers in the United States at Target, Whole Foods, Veggie Grill, and many more places.

These burgers aren’t found in the “natural” section with the other veggie burgers, they are only available in the cold meat case. This is done to grab the attention of meat-eaters, and it has proven to be a very successful tactic.

The FieldBurger

The hand-formed FieldBurger is made by a popular vegan company called Field Roast. It’s made out of barley, fresh carrots, and celery. It’s very juicy and tastes like a traditional burger. It comes in a box of 4.

Garden Veggie Burger

The Garden Veggie Burger is made by Gardein, a well-known company that makes mock meat products. This veggie burger is great for grilling. It is made out of brown rice, corn, bell peppers and more.

Boca Original Vegan Veggie Burgers

The original Boca burger is 100% vegan and although it’s not the most popular, it’s still delicious. It’s great for soaking up flavor and it goes really well with fried onions!

Hilary’s Eat Well Burgers

Hilary’s veggie burgers win the award for the most unique flavors! They have interesting veggie burgers such as Adzuki Bean, Hemp & Greens, Black Rice burger, and root burger. These burgers are great for those with allergies because they are soy-free, gluten-free, and nut-free as well.

Amy’s Kitchen

Although Amy’s Kitchen isn’t a fully vegan company, they sell many delicious vegan burgers. They have 8 to be exact! These include: California, Texas, All-American, Quarter Pound, Sonoma, Bistro, Black Bean, and a Low Sodium California Burger.

Out of these 8, two are gluten-free: the Bistro and Sonoma burger. All of these veggie burgers are made out of organic ingredients.

Dr. Praegers Veggie Burgers

Dr. Praeger makes 9 different types of veggie burgers which are all delicious. They have healthier options, and a few of these are gluten-free. Their burgers are appealing to many in the way that you can actually see the veggies that are in them!

Their burger types include: Root Vegetable, Italian, California, Thai, Super Greens, Kale, Bombay, Asian, and TexMex.

Engine 2 Diet Burgers

The Engine 2 Diet is a diet that was created by a former firefighter named Rip Esselstyn. He now has his own line of vegan foods that are made out of whole foods, and the thing that makes this burger unique is that it’s oil free.

The burgers come in four flavors: Poblano Black Bean, Tuscan Kale White Bean, Thai Basil Edamame and Curried Lentil. These burgers are great for anyone who is following a low-fat diet.

Sol Cuisine

Sol Cuisine has been around since 1980! They make healthy vegan foods including burgers. Some of their flavors include Spicy Black Bean, Mushroom Rice, Almond Grain, and Sprouted Quinoa Chia. Their burgers are gluten-free and non-GMO.

Sunshine Burgers

These veggie burgers are made from simple ingredients such as sunflower seeds and brown rice. They are all gluten-free, soy-free, and nut-free. Some of their burger flavors include Garden Herb, Hemp & Sage, Falafel, and Black Bean South West. Yum!
